MALAYSIA – Fourteen horizontal red and white stripes, of equal width, alternate (beginning with red at the tom and ending with white at the bottom) down the Malaysian flag, which was adopted in 1963. The upper left quarter of the flag boasts a square blue field charged with a yellow crescent and fourteen point star. The fourteen stripes and star points represent the thirteen Malaysian member states and the Federal District of Kuala Lumpur.
