Bulgaria’s horizontal tribar flag consists of a white stripe at the top, a green stripe in the middle, and a red stripe at the bottom. All stripes are of equal width. This flag, initially adopted in 1879, displayed the Bulgarian coat of arms on the left hand hoist side of the white stripe; however, it was removed after 1989.
