Kenya’s flag, which is made up of three equal size horizontal stripes of black (top), red (middle) and green (bottom) was adopted in 1963. Each stripe is separated by a slender white stripe. The emblem at the flag’s center is that of a Masai warrior’s shield and spears. The black stripe represents the African people, the red stands for the struggle for independence, and the green symbolizes Kenya’s agriculture and natural resources.
