IRAN – A horizontal tricolor made up of a green (vitality and growth) stripe at its top, a white stripe (honesty, purity, and peace) at its center, and a red stripe (valor and sacrifice) at the bottom, Iran’s flag was adopted in 1980. The center of the white stripe is charged with the emblem of Iran. On the inner edges of the green and red bands, written in a white stylized version of the Kufic script used for the Qur’an, is the repeated phrase “Allahu Akbar” (God is great).
